Since 1931, providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical quick response services to Shaler Township residents and to our neighboring communities.
A busy night Wednesday in Undercliff’s district, with a “wires down” call and a separate possible transformer explosion. At the “wires down” call, a motor vehicle crash led to the electrical hazard and a brush fire. 261 Engine helped supply water to 264 to take care of the fire.
Engine 261 visited Elfinwild Church Preschool yesterday and today to talk with the kids about fire safety. It's always a pleasure to visit with school groups. Feel free to contact us about a visit!

The primary tool of the engine company is WATER! Recently, we spent the evening testing new nozzles that will help us get "the wet stuff on the red stuff" more efficiently.
Some smoke alarms have permanent batteries, others require new ones every so often. When you're changing your clocks this weekend, check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to assure they are in working order. If they are over 10 years old, please replace them.
Also, you probably should change the batteries in your flashlights and portable AM/FM radio.
No flashlight or portable AM/FM radio? Well, preparedness is a great Christmas gift!
Elfinwild Families had a chance to relax, enjoy good camaraderie, share snacks and watch a great family movie together Saturday night! Special thanks to Beth Kalchthaler and Kathy Fadgen for organizing as well as the AV expertise of Dan Kalchthaler.
Be on the lookout for our donation letter, arriving soon in your mailbox!
261 Engine 1 and Rescue 3 for a fire alarm at the Middle --- NO, it is NOT the Middle School, it will always be known as the "Old High School" (And the Scott Ave. building as "The Old Junior High" and that 40 year old building on Wible is "The New High School") 😁
At the end of the rainbow 🙂
This past weekend, Elfinwild members attended the Pennsylvania State Weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. A memorial service on Saturday evening remembered the line of duty deaths from the previous year. Shown here at the National Fallen Firefighters and the 9/11 "To Lift a Nation" Memorials are Asst. Chief Rob Skertich, Lt. Craig Bettinelli, and Engineer Nate Sergent.
The National Fire Academy provides 2-, 6-, and 10-day courses in leadership, safety, investigation, community risk reduction, hazardous materials, and other topics important to today's fire and EMS agencies.
